Sally Doane has a BA in Social Anthropology from the University of London and a Certificate in College Admissions Advising from UC Berkeley. She comes to College Admissions Advising from a background in writing and editing and particularly enjoys helping students find their voice in writing the personal statement. Sally has many years of experience as a writing tutor and excels at drawing students out, enabling them to present their best self. In addition to providing individualized college advice to students, she works as a volunteer with local community-based organizations, helping low income and first generation college students identify their strengths and pursue their higher education goals.

Shelley Willig has a BA in Communications from Cal State Fullerton and her Certificate in College Admissions Advising from UC Berkeley. After earning her degree, Shelley held marketing positions in high tech companies such as Pacific Bell Network Integration, in graphic design firms, and with technology start ups. Most recently, Shelley has nine years experience in independent school admission, mostly as the Director of Admission at Trinity School in Menlo Park. Today, Shelley combines her 15 years of experience in marketing and writing and her passion for education to help students present their best selves in their college applications. With four children of her own in a variety of public and private schools, she believes that finding the right-fit college offers students the best opportunity for early success. Shelley’s spare time is spent supporting students in the college admission process through her favorite non profit, Foundation for a College Education.

PearlPearl Glaves


Born and raised in California, Pearl earned her BA degree in Communications from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and a Certificate in College Admissions Advising from UC Berkeley. After graduating, she owned and operated a restaurant on Catalina Island with her sisters. She was recruited by IBM, and worked for 12 years as a Systems Engineer in California, Texas and New York. Pearl became interested in college admissions after volunteering in the Palo Alto High School College and Career Center, and assisting her own three children with their college applications. She has taught college preparatory classes to raising seniors, and enjoys working with a variety of students, establishing a strong rapport and bringing out the best in them through their college essays and applications. Pearl completed her practicum at Summit Preparatory High School.
