The Boot Camp is now FULL and registration is closed.
The amount of time and energy required in the college application process is often compared to taking an additional academic course in your senior year. You can lighten the burden considerably by working over the summer. Get off to an early, productive start by participating in Sage’s College Admission Boot Camp.
Research and Refine Your College List: Day 1 & 2
June 16 & 17, 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Students will understand the range of college options that make sense for their interests
and priorities. - We spend time researching new colleges and refining lists. Students will have a good idea of colleges that represent safety, target and reach schools as they develop a balanced list.
- Students are given an account for a state-of-the-art admission tool that will help them throughout their senior year.
The College Application Essay: Day 3 &4
June 18 & 19, 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Understand what makes a good college application essay and how it differs from an English paper
- Brainstorm topics for the Common App Essay and/or UC Application Essays
- Over these two days, students will: engage in idea generation exercises, write opening sentences that hook the reader, learn what to include in the final paragraph, share and critique their writing, and write at least one rough draft essay
Scheduled one-on-one time: Day 5, June 20
While Day 5 is optional, we invite each student to schedule a 45-minute one-on-one session with a Sage advisor anytime from 9:00 a.m.to 3:00 p.m. Students can also come and work onsite this day.
